Welcome to my visitor from S Korea and thanks to all who are following and pushing me towards 5000 visits. I am having quite a few daily visits, around 60 - 70, to my smashwords account (see link above) and also a number who have downloaded the 15% free sample but no reviews as yet! Also the electronic book is available on all devices and at around £1 or $1.50 I don't think it is too expensive.
In fact all sales have rather ground to a halt!

Bethlehem to Nazareth

Mary would be quite weak, the baby may have been demanding of attention and the three of them had a journey of around 75 miles to complete. On top of that they would be worried, even frightened of the possible attentions of Herod.
There is in existence a modern television version of the Nativity produced a couple of years ago that is, for the most part, beautifully done but the handling of the Joseph character was obviously difficult. Trying to project back 2000 years and look at the announcement by your fiance that she is pregnant is next to impossible. The reactions of Joseph are very human and until the baby was born he was portrayed as disbelieving what Mary had told him. Hardly surprising but, for Mary's safety he maintained his humanity and was finally won over by the testimony of the visitors.
So the journey back to Nazareth would begin and this is where information becomes somewhat confused. It would seem from various accounts that he was circumcised and named when eight days old and then, when somewhere between six weeks and three months old, was presented in the temple by Joseph. This was the custom.
The actual journey must have been extremely difficult and probably took four or five days and raises questions in my mind. Did Rachel, one of Joseph's cousins, provide food and water? Did they manage to acquire a second donkey? How on earth did Mary manage as a young mother without the support of female relatives?
Irrespective of the detail they made it home and went through the normal processes of accepting the baby and purifying his mother. However, at some point an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him to flee to Egypt as Herod was killing male children.
