Poetry Thursday 17 - Experts! Really?

The Japanese Shop - an aside - I have put a link to this wonderful store on my blog please give them the once over!

Back to business

I just love this caption!

Experts have a prolonged or intense experience through practice and education in a particular field. In specific fields, the definition of expert is well established by consensus and therefore it is not necessary for an individual to have a professional or academic qualification for them to be accepted as an expert. In this respect, a shepherd with 50 years of experience tending flocks would be widely recognized as having complete expertise in the use and training of sheep dogs and the care of sheep.

A physics professor a long time ago said that an expert is a former drip under pressure

Where does all this ire come from?
Its my own fault. I routinely watch the BBC Breakfast programme and they frequently role out 'experts'. However, they don't fulfil the definition. They only go half way because they are young and have no experience and rely solely on education! I could change my viewing habits.

Damned Experts! (Sonnet style)

On a daily basis they are rolled out
They frequently spout forth that which they've learned
No age to know what the subject's about
Eons of useful experience  spurned

No matter what subject - confidence glows
As the perceived yellowish light in fog
In their minds the scope of their knowledge shows
Manic action of tail wagging the dog

Let's once again laud the keepers of time
Give thanks for dramas through which they have lived
Observe and love every rhythm and rhyme
For they are pilots of life endured

Expert - a former drip under pressure
Sagacity from length of life - measure
