Author Atkinson has given us a lovely and thought-provoking body of work in his first collection of poetry! His haiku and tanka pieces range from the steadfastness of church and faith to the biting and witty sarcasm of politics, all wonderfully rendered and clear as a bell. His sonnets reveal the many layers of man and his struggles with issues most of us deal with today. One can feel his joy and misery equally, as he lays bare the heart and soul of his mind's wanderings in search of doing the right thing and righting obvious societal wrongs. My sincere hope is that he will continue with his search for truth via poetry, as one can go places and find things unreachable by any other avenue. It is wonderful to read this initial offering from a wonderful novelist who has dipped a toe in the poetry sea and found a home there. It will be a joy to follow his growth in this new undertaking!

This week's offering,

There is a dynamism related to writing
An addiction
Like the drive experienced from repeated adrenaline rushes
Takes over your life and pleads for attention

It’s ok really not threatening in any way
The result of countless previous encounters
Happy to revisit
I can maintain the balance – I can

There have been no ill side effects so far
It’s safe
I don’t know what the future will bring
There it is again – the adrenaline
