Poetry Thursday 30 on Friday! - Childhood

Billy Bumper

Blue, white and red flashes by on its track
Hurtling along with the infant pilot
Crashing would create the blue and the black
The regard of possible pain forgot

Continued practise ensured success
The sharpest of turns couldn’t unship him
Was this a pointer to internal stress?
Repeated risk to existence and limb

Preparation for tackling future life
Methodical in the military
Handling copious trouble and strife
Riding the billy was cautionary

Foundations successfully constructed
The hereafter less than expected

This was inspired by one of my children who had boundless physical energy and continually tested himself to the limit. He worried us greatly at times as we often received letters from school saying that he'd bumped his head and we needed to keep an eye on him!

Scifaiku

Klammydamonas

Twisting gyropod
Making spiralling progress
Cold flagellation
