American Fish Pie with sauteed haricot beans
Now this came from the Durham branch of the WI cookbook going back around 50 years. I can't see why it is called American! The main difference between this and ordinary fish pie is a layer of tomato through the middle! It is very tasty though! See the tab above for the full recipe.
Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake
I have never claimed to be a great cook and I'm even more incompetent at baking so when I watched Nigella Lawson produce a cheese cake from bottles and packets I couldn't resist. I have not put this on my recipe page as it seems a bit of a cheat!
You require 2 packets of Philadelphia cheese spread, a couple of tablespoons of caster sugar, 1 jar of Chocolate Hazelnut spread, 1 pkt of digestive biscuits, 100g butter, 1 pkt of chopped and toasted hazelnuts, and Amarettini biscuits to decorate.
The method is simplicity itself using a blender. First blend the biscuits half the hazelnuts and butter then press firmly into a flan dish or baking ring and put in the fridge for an hour. Then blend together the cheese spread, caster sugar and chocolate hazelnut spread. Spoon the mixture on top of the prepared base, decorate with the remaining chopped nuts and Amarettini.
