Inspiration comes from wherever!

Inspiration can appear at the strangest times and in the oddest of places but one thing I feel is certain - you need to keep your eyes and ears open at all times. The poem below puts the onus on the writer which I firmly believe is where it belongs and also that it becomes easier to find sources for your writing as you experience more in life. Age and experience are so important but that is not to say that young writers aren't good but writing about life and experience is easier as you age. Currently I am reading a book by a youngster (anyone under 50 counts as a youngster to me), Lada Ray, which is excellent and I will review it properly when  have finished the book. Interesting author and 'Stepford USA' is a good read so far. My message is get inside the heads of your characters, look round your setting from inside and let your imagination go - say no to writers' block!

Is it mountains or glaciers or water?
The point is it’s in you
It can come from mountains, glaciers or water
But it’s in you

It can come from hate, anger or love
It’s in you
It can come from compassion, tenderness and love
But it’s in you

The power to envisage on the page
Is in you
It’s power that grows with age
But it’s in you

From the start of your life
It’s in you
Through the whole of your life
It’s in you

So get it out and use it
It’s in you
Don’t procrastinate it
It’s in you
