  Grand Central Station NY

Grand Central Station opened on February 2nd 1913. The President at that time was Woodrow Wilson. I mention the station because on a visit to the USA in July 1996 me and some friends had to take shelter therein from a downpour.

 Sylvia Pankhurst

Estelle Sylvia Pankhurst (5 May 1882 – 27 September 1960) was an English campaigner for the suffragist movement in the United Kingdom. She was for a time a prominent left communist who then devoted herself to the cause of anti-fascism.

Sylvia was sent to prison on 5th Feb 1913 and threatened to go on hunger strike.

 Emmeline Pankhurst

Linked to Ms S. Pankhurst's antics was the trial of Mrs Emmeline Pankhurst which began later in the month. The charges read out related to an explosion earlier in February which wrecked Lloyd George's new £2000 golf villa. Mrs Pankhurst described it as successful 'guerilla warfare' and she accepted full responsibility for such acts including arson on Kew Gardens and raids at Regents Park.

Wow what a group that must have been! Just goes to show that terrorism is not that unusual or indeed new.

God Bless
