This blog is not about writers' block. Let me set that straight. No this is about the magic of inspiration.
Is a divine influence or action on a person believed to qualify him or her to receive and communicate sacred revelation; and, the action or power of moving the intellect or emotions.
Isn't it strange that in this relatively secular society, when we have to explain something that is abstract and illusive, we fall back on divinity! I'll leave that with you.
In fact you could suggest that inspiration comes from external influences and the internal state of mind. I am sitting watching the test match on a warm and sunny afternoon and the sky outside is clear blue with white, cotton wool-like clouds, that could transport you mentally to a deserted island, a desert landscape or a delightful excursion in the countryside with loved ones. I think it would be quite a satisfying writing exercise to use the view you have and allow yourself to be transported to a different situation with the same background. As I said yesterday if you are a new writer, just do it. It doesn't matter how long the piece that you produce is, what is most important is that you immerse yourself in the process.
'Imagination is the most powerful force ever made available to human kind.'
'Are you sure you want to step into this mysterious realm? You may get lost in there and not be able to find your way out.'
Two fine quotes from 'The Magic of Belle Isle' and Monty Wildhorn alias Morgan Freedom. I know they have come from a story but I believe they are so accurate. Imagination has no bounds and if you enter the world of creativity you are transported to so many interesting places, with wonderful people, and glorious possibilities.
