As I'm writing this on National Poetry Day:-
'Never be lucid, never state, if you would be regarded great'
Tom Clancy (1947 - 2013)
Thomas Leo "Tom" Clancy, Jr. was an American author best known for his technically detailed espionage and military science storylines that are set during and in the aftermath of the Cold War, along with video games which bear his name for licensing and promotional purposes. Seventeen of his novels were best-sellers, with over 100 million copies in print.
Clancy gave us wonderful tales from his first 'Hunt for Red October' which was published in 1984. He also had a number of books turned into films for the large and the small screen. His two most significant characters were Jack Ryan and John Clark but his tales were brilliant and will live on for decades.
The world was always its own place
till God created the human race
and placed it upon this blue/green ball
but then they learned to destroy it all.
All life on Earth began from little.
Their hold on existence seemed so brittle.
But as generation followed generation
the scope of influence was without restriction.
Now this bounteous planet’s pain
from global warming to acid rain.
Issues caused by peoples’ abuse,
the scientists’ explanations seem obtuse.
In fact our home is on a path,
and our influence is tiny on the graph
of time, size and planetary progression
but we continue to wallow in self-satisfaction.

As you may be able to tell from the above I am not on board with the scientists' assertion that we humans are majorly responsible for the global warming issue. It seems to me that these so called experts (a drip under pressure!) have chosen to forget the fact that our planet has oscillated between warm and cold dominated weather for millions of years. The human race has only been in situ for a tiny proportion of the time and the dark years of massive use of fossil fuels in the west is significantly reduced in comparison with the Victorian industrial age and the abuses of the 20th century.
It is significant that there has been no increase in the warming trend for the last 15 years.
